Segments
-
0–5 km · 06:28
Nathan Rd (Tsim Sha Tsui) → Argyle St → Lin Cheung Rd U-turn → West Kowloon viaduct
You head north up Nathan Road in the dark on flat ground and make a U-turn at 3.5 km. Just after 4 km the long climb onto the viaduct begins, so save energy while the field is packed.
-
5–10 km · 06:58
Lin Cheung Rd → West Kowloon Hwy → Tsing Sha Hwy → Stonecutters Bridge
Over these 5 km you climb about 50 m on a long, gentle grade, steepest from 8 km up to Stonecutters Bridge (about 2% at most). A slower pace here is normal, so run by effort.
-
10–15 km · 07:26
Stonecutters Bridge → Nam Wan Tunnel → North West Tsing Yi Interchange
The bridge deck, about 68 m up, is fully exposed to sea wind, and GPS drops out in the 1.3 km Nam Wan Tunnel that follows. After the tunnel you climb about 25 m again toward the Tsing Ma Bridge.
-
15–20 km · 07:54
Tsing Ma approach U-turn → Ting Kau Bridge → Tsing Long Hwy turn → Ting Kau Bridge
You U-turn twice, at 15.5 km and 18.1 km, and cross Ting Kau Bridge both ways past the course high point (about 77 m). Watch the wind and the runners coming back on this two-way bridge, and make sure you cross the timing mat at each turn.
-
20–25 km · 08:23
Ting Kau Bridge south end → Cheung Tsing Hwy (halfway) → Cheung Tsing Tunnel → Rambler Channel bridge
You drop about 40 m here, including a steady gentle descent through the 1.6 km Cheung Tsing Tunnel. Save your legs on the downhill rather than banking time, and keep the short 12 m climb onto the bridge at 24 km compact.
-
25–30 km · 08:51
Kwai Chung bend → Tsing Kwai Hwy → Mei Foo (half-marathon turn) → West Kowloon Hwy
After a gentle descent the viaduct stays flat at around 20 m, a good place to settle back into rhythm. In 2026 banana and chocolate were offered near 25 and 30 km, and the half-marathon route joins on the West Kowloon Highway.
-
30–35 km · 09:19
West Kowloon Hwy → harbour tunnel toll plaza → Western Harbour Crossing → Sai Wan exit
You drop about 30 m into the harbour tunnel, then face the steepest climb of the course, about 30 m up to the exit between 34 and 35 km (about 3% on average). The air inside is stale and GPS drops out, so shorten your stride and pace off the km markers.
-
35–40 km · 09:48
Sai Wan loop → Connaught Rd West flyover → Central Piers zigzag → Lung Wo Rd
Right after the tunnel you climb about 15 m more onto the flyover, then run a zigzag along the Central Piers with two tight U-turns. Fatigue is building, so slow down for the turns and find your rhythm again on the gentle descent of Lung Wo Road.
-
40–42.195 km · 10:00
Expo Dr (Convention Centre) → Hung Hing Rd → Lockhart Rd → Hennessy Rd → Victoria Park finish
It is completely flat, but there are several right-angle turns through Wan Chai and Causeway Bay. The crowds are biggest here, so take the corners tight and hold your pace to the finish inside the park.

Good to know
- Race day is Sunday 17 January 2027. The marathon starts in three waves: Marathon Challenge (Senior and Master 1–8, the prize group) at 06:00, Marathon Run 1 at 06:25 and Marathon Run 2 at 06:50. Waves are assigned from your estimated finish time. In 2026, starting outside your wave meant disqualification, and each wave's start closed 10 minutes after its gun.
- The time limit is 6 hours. The 2026 Runner's Guide had six intermediate cut-off points (see POIs), timed from the last wave's 06:50 start. The 2027 Runner's Guide had not been published as of 2026-10-26, so re-check cut-off places and times when it comes out. Runners who miss a cut-off are taken to Victoria Park by official bus.
- The start is on Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui. In 2026 the start line was near The Mira, with the start zone between Haiphong Road and Kimberley Road. Bag deposit was at the Star Ferry bus terminus in Tsim Sha Tsui and closed 25 minutes before each wave (suggested arrival in 2026: 04:50, 05:15, 05:40). The organiser asks runners to arrive 70 minutes before their start.
- The finish is in Victoria Park, Causeway Bay. In 2026 bag collection was at soccer pitches 5–6 in the park (closing 14:00), and the meeting point for family and friends was Causeway Bay Sports Ground.
- On race morning in 2026, eight MTR lines ran early trains from 03:25 (East Rail and Tuen Ma lines), reaching Tsim Sha Tsui at about 04:20–04:36, and 28 special bus routes ran. The 2027 transport plan has not been announced yet.
- The official 2027 map shows the same route as 2026: over Stonecutters and Ting Kau bridges, a U-turn at the Tsing Ma Bridge approach, and three tunnels (Nam Wan, Cheung Tsing, Western Harbour Crossing). On the official 2026 profile the high point is about 77 m (near 19 km) and the low point about -30 m in the harbour tunnel (near 34 km). Gain is about 176 m, loss about 185 m.
- GPS watches lose distance inside the Nam Wan (about 1.3 km), Cheung Tsing (about 1.6 km) and Western Harbour (about 1.9 km) tunnels, so pace readings can jump. Use the distance markers placed every kilometre.
- Aid-station positions for 2027 have not been published. In 2026 water was served at the start, the finish and stations along the course (roughly every 2–3 km on the official map), with sports drink as well at stations after 10 km. Banana and chocolate were available on request at about 25 km and 30 km (limited). The 2026 map showed no sponge stations.
- In 2026 there was first aid at the start, the finish and every water station, plus first-aid bicycles on the course. Mobile toilets were at water stations and along the route. Every turning point has a timing mat, and a missing record means disqualification.
- Hong Kong Observatory normals for January (1991–2020): mean daily minimum 14.6°C, maximum 18.7°C, mean humidity 74% (78% at 2 am), rainfall 33.2 mm over 5.7 days. Winds are mostly easterly and much stronger on the sea bridges (Waglan Island mean 25 km/h).
- On race day sunrise is around 07:05 and civil dawn around 06:41 (computed with the NOAA solar algorithm), so you run the first 15–65 minutes in the dark depending on your wave.
- Under the 2026 rules the race was cancelled if Typhoon Signal No. 3 or higher, or a Red or Black Rainstorm Warning, was in force at or after 3 am on race day.
- The Expo and race-pack collection run 13–16 January 2027. In 2025 and 2026 the Expo was at Kai Tak Arena. A collection email is sent in late December, and pick-up slots are booked in early January.
Checklist
Course data
Approximated from the official course map. May differ by tens of meters.
No official GPX had been published as of 2026-10-26, so this is an approximate track drawn on OpenStreetMap roads from the official 2027 marathon map (same route as 2026) and the Transport Department's 2026 list of closed roads. It runs over Stonecutters Bridge, through Nam Wan Tunnel, over Ting Kau Bridge, through Cheung Tsing Tunnel and under the harbour in the Western Harbour Crossing, trimmed to the shortest line within 10 m of the road centre. It measures 42.16 km (-0.1%). U-turn points not drawn precisely on the map were estimated from the official 2026 elevation profile and the 2026 cut-off times. Elevation is the official 2026 Runner's Guide profile (1 km samples) mapped by distance, including the harbour-tunnel dip to about -30 m. It will be replaced when the 2027 Runner's Guide or an official GPX is released.
